Bring the dog and join us for a family fun-filled event, the Bark Walk - it's a walk in the park!  Tulsa Boxer Rescue will be holding a walk for dogs and their owners with a distance of 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile.  The location is still to be determined.  There will be games, Ask the Trainer, Ask the Vet, and vendors with pet friendly items for sale.  The entry fee is $20 for each dog (one t-shirt to dog owner) and  family members are encouraged to join the walk.  Walkers 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.  Watch for more information on our website www.tulsaboxerrescue.net. Would you like to sponsor the event, become a vendor, volunteer or do you have questions?  Email us at barkwalk@tulsaboxerrescue.net! Story shared from a volunteer’s eyes:Evie's storyEvie was rescued from an abusive owner.  When officers picked up the dog, the owner carried her out by her back leg so it comes as no surprise that she was very afraid of people.  We made her safe and secure in a boarding kennel, but due to a lack of people contact, her first adoption event was a scary event for her.  Her shyness and fear prevented her from interacting with potential adopters.  She was returned to the kennel that evening.  There was question if she should attend another adoption event, we didn't want to put her in difficult situations.  We decided to try something different!  I picked her up from the kennel the evening prior to the event.  She greeted the me with a sweet shyness that was very endearing!  She hopped into the car but wasn't sure if she wanted out when we arrived to the my home!  Before taking her inside, I walked her around the block to let her check out the smells.  Instead of looking around at the sites or smelling the ground, she wouldn't take her eyes off the me.  Inside the house she was bathed, fed and allowed to rest in a quiet environment.  A walk later in the evening showed a dog that was beginning to get confidence.  The next morning Evie joined my other three dogs for a walk and she had a blast!  She was a part of a pack and she was beginning to feel secure.  So, on to the event where she had failed so miserably before.  The difference was that this time she had people contact, was going with someone that just within a 12 hour period convinced her she was safe.  She went in, tail wagging.  As it turns out, someone had seen her picture on the web and the rest is history!  Evie was adopted by a retired individual who would be able to show her for the rest of her life what love means.  TBR is looking for someone like you who can spend an evening with a dog prior to an adoption event.  This provides the opportunity for the dog have a bath, enjoy a home, and at the same time we can get a better idea of the animal's personality.  Sound like something you could do?  Let us know at info@tulsaboxerrescue.net!   Boxers TBR has had the longest: Boss Fetterhoff Snowy Greteman Boxer in boarding longest: Hazel Greteman Please check them out on the website, they are all wonderful dogs and there is no reason they should still be with us, so please share their story with everyone you know!To our volunteers! We cannot thank you enough for the difference you have made in the lives of our boxers.  The time you picked up a dog the night before taking to be spayed/neutered or the night before an adoption event and let it be  a part of your family for an evening.  You spent part of your precious Saturday to work an adoption event.  You were awakened in the night and drove to save a Boxer that needed rescuing.  You fostered a dog in your home in order to help us save more.  The personal time dedicated to the dogs in boarding, caring for them, cleaning them, walking them. You pet you fed, you leashed, you hugged, you walked, you drove, you calmed and most of all you loved.  You saved lives. Please share with everyone the joy you receive from helping these innocent lives, encourage others to volunteer!
08/13/2009 | Foster Assistance Program!!!

Times Are Tough And Boy Don't We Know It!!!!  We Are In Desperate Need Of Foster Homes For Our Boxers.  With The Change In The Economy We Have Seen Our Numbers Rise.  But We Pledge To These Boxers The Desire To Place Each & Everyone Of Them In A Safe & Happy Home.  In The Meantime With Numbers At An All Time High.....  We Are Without Enough Foster Homes & This Affects Us In A Number Of Ways.  The Cost Of Boarding.  The Information That We Don't Collect On A New Boxer In A Real Living Situation Slows The Placement.  Hence The Cost Of Boarding. Boarding Situations Sometimes Present Illness With The Large Number Of Dogs Our Boxers Are Exposed To.  Now There Is An Extra Expense Of Medical Treatment, Which Extends The Time In Boarding.  Hence The Growing Cost Of Boarding. Again The Cost Of Boarding.  I Know I Am Repeating Myself.  But It Is The Hard Nosed Truth.  So Here Is What We Want To Do And Here Is How You Can Help Us Do It.    If You Are Willing To Open Your Heart  & Your Home.  (All Free I Might Add!!)  Agreeing To Learn All That You Can About Your Foster Boxer, Help Them & Help Us.  We Will Provide The Collars, The Leashes, The Crates, & The Food.  For The Entire Duration Of Your Foster Dogs Stay.  This Is How Dedicated We Are To Placing These Boxers In "Forever Homes!"  If This Sounds Like Something You Are Willing To Do.  Read Over Our Information.  From The Home Page, Check Out "You Can Help," Then Click "Foster," & Then To "Intro Info."  Read Through That Info & If You Want To Give Us A Hand.  Fill Out The Foster Application Using The Link At The Bottom Of The Page. I Feel As Though I Am Asking You A Personal Favor.  In Fact I Am.  So I Will Leave You With My Personal Contact Information & I Will Answer Any Question You Have.  Thank You For Your Time, Denise Sessions 918-814-0885   tbr_bios@yahoo.com
