I grew up in Houston with most of my friends owning Boxers and that’s how I came to love them myself. I have had several breeds but these are the BEST ever!  I live in Tulsa with my husband, Tony and 2 Boxers, Alexis Mae and Jacob Dean (Lexi and Jake). Volunteering gives you much joy but you also see so much neglect it’s heartbreaking.  My hope is everyone who visits our website will see the joy in these sweet babies and find a place in their heart and homes to adopt.  When I first met my husband I have to say he wasn’t thrilled and now he tucks them in their beds every night right next to ours!!  He’s hooked!

Michael Ward, Board Member

I have been involved with Tulsa Boxer Rescue for over 8 years now. Once I was stable and had a Home, I contacted TBR through Tracy Hendrickson and she suggested that I visit with a stray that was picked up in Owasso, they had named her Margie, Margie? I don't think so! Well, Dana and I decided we had to have this Fawn beauty and Bella entered our lives. Well from there we began volunteering, transporting, and fostering. We quickly became "foster flunkies" with Sassy, who came from a puppy mill in MO. She was the Matriarch of our home, until DM got the best of her in September of last year. We added Kealy the wry mouthed Boxer with the full tail (Kealy for short), and then Alannah, the "White Demon". After "just" volunteering I became Webmaster, then Director, then President, then Treasurer, and now, here I am Board Member/Web Designer/Whatever else I can do. So, I have been around for quite some time, and I plan to be around much longer!

I grew up in S. MS w/ 3 generations of boxers then moved to Tulsa and married 3 shelties.  What was I thinking?!  Well, they have long since passed, and my husband has been converted; it's nothin' butt boxers.  I pray my passion for the breed and efforts through TBR will help educate the public about pet overpopulation, neglect, and cruelty to animals including the human's lack of lifelong commitment to these dedicated furry family members.  And I pray every boxer could know and live the thrill of life in the manner they have been bred to expect from their people.  HollyWood and KandieKane were the start; there are more who stay and dozens more who pass through our home and hearts, each one having a little more to teach us about our Creator.
